Media Room Remodel

Project Description

This gracious Shaker Heights home, built in 1919, featured an extra first-floor room with a bay window that leaked. Originally an open-air porch, the room had been enclosed 20 to 30 years ago. It was heated with floor-mounted radiators and was cold and drafty in the winter.

The homeowners wanted to remodel the space to make it into "a pleasant media room where we could sit for a cozy evening of TV viewing" in the winter as well as summer. An artistic couple, they described what they wanted, giving us sketches, photographs and pictures torn from magazines.

The homeowners are delighted with their media room. "We are enormously pleased with Robert's willingness to come up with solutions to the challenges we presented him," says the homeowner's wife.

This photograph was taken after we removed the radiators from under the old bay window. We replaced the bay window and installed an in-floor hot water heating system underneath the new tile floor.
